Activision Blizzard’s Mike Sepso: Overwatch League will set a new standard for esports

- The Binx Perspective -

Blizzard has been building this league up for some time, set the entry bar real high and is even in the process of crossing into other video media (Netflix) with Overwatch. We think there will be a lot to see here in the new future. And not just for big game teams. Hoping there is a lot of Streamer love they share too. Like with tools and such 😉 😉

Convert Streaming Videos to Audio Files With This App

- The Binx Perspective -

This is a new one. We tend to think that looking upon Binx members, in their streams, is the coolest way to learn about them and share in the streaming experience with them. But, maybe there is something to audio alone that we have not grasped. Tell us what we are missing 😉 Or, is this just a reach of some marketing department?

Accenture is touting an AI-driven programmatic video ad

- The Binx Perspective -

Me thinks the likes of Amazon, Google and Microsoft are not going to like ads rolling over their stream-tech very much 😉 They will sense a disturbance in the force ... then they will crush it.

Caesars Entertainment Studios Opens Las Vegas Location, Plans Esports Content

- The Binx Perspective -

Gambling is coming to the esport world. Nevada is making an attempt to be at the forefront of that move. Big question is, will gambling benefit or hurt esports? There is no clear answer. You can be sure, though, that Binx members ( and all their BinxCoins ) will be watching closely.

Vodafone Spain extends eSports reach with Twitch

- The Binx Perspective -

Hmmm. Interesting. A couple of weeks ago we caught word that Yahoo! shut down its' eSports focused teams. This week, we hear Vodafone is stepping into the ring. Looks like Europe continues to lead the way in eSport coverage. More to come?

iPhone 8, Galaxy Note 8, Google Pixel 2: Price Factor Comparison

- The Binx Perspective -

Mobile phones are rapidly becoming the gaming platforms of choice and the next generation of them look to be priced over the $1k range. To much? Getting nutty? Or spot on? With the next XBox seeing a prospective price hike too, who has these kind of ducats?!

- The Binx Perspective -

A nice introduction to a new the new eZines. One for the League of Legends, one for Dota 2; and the last for Overwatch. Covering not just the eSport bits but all about the games themselves. Grant has a nice background and these might prove to be interesting offerings. Pick the game you like and let us know what you think.

Yahoo Esports Reveal Devastating News on Future

- The Binx Perspective -

We all know that change was coming. We just did not realize it would happen so quickly. Verizon began their merging of Yahoo! just two weeks ago and we thought it would take a little longer for this storied old brand to be swept away. Seems we were wrong. Oath is now the future o_O

Amazon Isn’t the Only One at the Big E3 Gaming Convention Showing Why eSports Is Booming

- The Binx Perspective -

Nothing, specifically, new to the Streamer community here. This is just a collection of surrounding industries waking up to the power of Social Video Streaming. All we want to point out is that this is ALL brought about because of you, the Streamer. You are at the core of this content whirlwind. Recognize your power and influence in that position.

- The Binx Perspective -

Well. This explains so much! A large portion of the Binx community calls Romania home and we are stoked to see our early morning games really boosted by this part of the community. With three big publishers there and a rich Indie game community unveiled, it all makes sense 🙂 Go Global! <3

Mixer’s co-op streaming is for the pros, not dabblers like me

- The Binx Perspective -

Interesting. Personally, we don't think Mixer should try to stand apart from Twitch and YouTube. Our thought is that it would be better for Mixer to take them head on. Do exactly what they are doing. But underpin is all with the hardware and OS strengths that Microsoft can bring to the table. In short, make Mixer 'more endemic' and battle it out. The market is young enough for just this kind of challenger to break for the finish line.

VR startups go into cockroach mode to survive barren consumer market

- The Binx Perspective -

Much of our team are OG ( Oldschool Gamers ) and we remember the VR frenzy of the late 1980's. That frenzy saw the birth of the game industry we know today. With the pivotal launch of a little game names DOOM. There are a lot of similarities between then and now. We see AR as the probable winner of this new frenzy. Everyone is just awaiting that breakout AR app that will leapfrog virtual reality once again.

How I Learned to Stop Hating and Love eSports

- The Binx Perspective -

A very insightful article asserting that playing "video games is now a viable career option for elite players". Which we, completely, agree with. However, for the future, we see this viability spreading FAR beyond 'elite players'.

European telecoms firms pin hopes on ‘Esports’ video game gladiators

- The Binx Perspective -

The story looks like it is about the cell phone giants. Don't be fooled, though. This is a story about Streamers. Read between the lines. See how the giants shudder at the power of this new social wave. Best they can do is try and make the story look like it is about them. It isn't.

Valve reveals Steam Direct fee, upcoming changes to the store

- The Binx Perspective -

This is great news for Indie developers! GreenLight was a really great idea and the execution was well done. The community moved beyond it, though, and there was a clear need for change. We look forward to this new approach and to seeing what Valve does next 🙂

An excellent and deep dive into the cross section of traditional sports and eSports. Really insightful and worthy of your time. It is an opinion piece. Yet, as they go, this is a masterful look into the psyche of the gamer fan and the athletes they pay homage to.

Comcast Isn’t Afraid of the Streaming Competition

- The Binx Perspective -

Given recent events, it is understandable why the large pipe companies are not afraid. But, there is a wave-a-comin' and it does not care for centralized content creation. The pipe will still exist ... we just think they should watch their six in relation to the content on it.

Companies of the future: No CEO, no boss, managed by blockchain

- The Binx Perspective -

As Streamers, you are your best CEO, employee, accountant and biggest fan. 'Decentralized Autonomous Organization' takes an interesting approach to business structure that might work perfectly for the virtual business person. A new concept, indeed. But, worthy of a look.

eSports viewing growing dramatically

- The Binx Perspective -

The future looks bright. And it is because of the Streamer. Never forget. You did this. You must share in its' fruits.

How Tencent’s WeGame is changing to compete with Steam in China

- The Binx Perspective -

In a world filled with titans, this match up is a good one to watch. Mr. Zeng hit the nail on the head here and the matchup, between Tencent and Steam, will be big for the Streamer world. China has a huge digital head start and the shear market numbers are insane. But, Steam is strong and driven ... going to be a blast to watch.
